Guys...it's almost April?!

Monday March 31, 2014.  12:19 am

Does someone want to tell me where all the time went....

It is almost april.  I don't know what happened to all my time?  sad..

Sister Bechachino is supper nice.  She is 21.  She is actually from Tacloban. She is supper strong, even though she still does not have really any specifics about her family still. She is really great.  One batch benneth me.

The work is really good.  We are getting some new investigators.  We will see where everything takes us.  One of them is the father of the Ramos girls.  He actually lives in Jeda?.. In the middle east.  We don't know if there are any churches over there or what would happen after baptism and he goes back.  It is hard for the girls.  They had not seen him in over 27 months.

But life is awesome becuase this week is Edison's Baptism! Long time coming I know but it is so worth it. He had his interview on Saturday and he is totally ready for baptism!!!

I am so happy for him!!

He is so awesome. He is ready and has a really strong testimony that this church is true.  .

I am having a really great time. I love my mission.

I read in 1 Kings 3, where Solomon prays for a wise and understanding heart.  It is a great section that I applied to myself, as I too am young and in a great need for the Gift of Discernment.

Life is good.

I am so amazed by how much the Lord knows each and everyone of us everyday.  He is very mindful of what we are going through.  I learned more about that as we went to the temple. It was once again an amazing experience to feel the spirit.  I saw two of the MYSA girls there: May and Heidi.

This weekend we get to watch the Women's broadcast.  We watch all of the broadcasts a week late but that is okay.  The spirit is so strong.  I am so excited to see what all they speak about!

Like always I love all you guys tons. Missionary work is awesome!!

Love you and talk to all of you next week!!

Hello Family!

Hello Family! Monday March 25, 2014. 11:56 pm

Hi everyone

So this has been a crazy week.  So it started all out with Sister Reyes being sick. We went to St. Luke's Hospital on I think Weds. and Sat.  for some tests and check up.  Other days she was too sick to really get up to work.  Then we found out yesterday that she has a viral infection that has been affecting her body for a while.  But at least we know what is happening.  She has another follow-up appointment at St.Luke's on Thursday.

Because of all the work we missed, we had to push back Edison's baptism another week so that he will have his interview this week.  It will be okay.  I am still super amazed by all of his progress, and his testimony.

We also had one of the other boarders who lives at the same house as Edison come to church again.  He is less-active.  His name is William. He has now come to church 3 times and is on his way to being reactivated!  He is really great.  He joined our lesson last night with Edison about Fasting.  He told us that he has never actually tried to fast, but we committed him for this next fast sunday!  He said he will!!

So the other interesting part of the week came yesterday.  Before our District Meeting, We get a call from the zone leaders saying that Sister Reyes and Sister Bechachino (one of our roommates in Boni 4) will be transferring to the other's area.  so now I am companions with Sister Bechachino.  She is one batch under me.  It is really awesome. We switched last night.  I am supper excited. She was 'born' in my last zone but after one transfer, was transferred to Palawan.  Now she is back and it is going to be good.  She had some problems with her comp. in Boni 4.  But I don't blame her at all for what happened. Now I am really excited for all that lies in store for us.

The work is going well. I am excited to keep going. I just did a short study on Patience & Humility in Chapter 6 of PMG.  With that, I took some time to read "Be Meek and Lowly of Heart" from last General Conference.  It was a great opportunity to learn more about the Savior.  It made me think of the things that I need to change more about myself to be an effective advocate of the Father in preaching his gospel to all the world.  or at least the Boni 6B area. :)

The work is good!

I love the Lord and the opportunity that I have to serve him by teaching people about The Restored Gospel.

I love it!

I love you all so much!!!!

Love Always,
Sister Bishop

P.S. I straightened my hair.  I will send pics next week of me at the temple.

Week in review

March 17, 2014 12:15

Week in review

Hey everyone!

So this week we were able to have transfers.  My companion is Sister Reyes.  She is Filipina. She is supper nice.  Eccentric, but supper fun.  She is older than me in the mission. Way fun to be with her now. It is really a nice trade to be junior for a little bit.  The one hurdle that we are facing is her health.  She has had problems all her mission The worst comes during the heat.  She is really sick right now so we are about to go to the doctors near the mtc.

Everything else is okay.  Really hard.  Really fun.  I am learning more about how much I need the Lord to do this work.  We are teaching and working everyday.  Sometimes I really don't want to have to leave the comfort of the electric fan, but it is really nice when we get to work with investigators who are progressing towards baptism.

I know that the missionary work is the same throughout the whole world.  It is hard, but so rewarding. I know the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is the Lord's Kingdom on the earth.  I know there is a life after death where we will be reunited with our families forever.  I know that my family has been sealed by the Priesthood authority of God for this life and the life to come.

I know this is short I just had some other things to do while online as well

News for this week.

Next week is temple day = Tuesday emailing.

Hopefully baptism on sunday if the elders can get his interview on time. If not saturday.

I might be straingtening my hair.  It is a big thing here in the Philippines.  S. Reyes can do it for me so that would be cool. My hair is supper long.  I have it down right now and it is actually sort of a frizzy curly thing going on.  but that is random news.
Like always, I love you all more than any of you could ever know!!!!

I LOVE THE LORD. this is his work and I am grateful to be his missionary.

I was able to get my scriptures that I got releathered back on wednesday.  They are soooo cool! I will send pictures next week.  I missed my scriptures way too much.  The Book of Mormon Is True!!

Love Always,

Hello!!!

Monday March 9, 2014. 12:59 am

I can't believe that this time is going so fast.

It is March 10th and I will soon be saying that I am 10 months................... weird..........

How are all of you.  Tell me about life.

Really quickly before I forget: a great scripture that I read this morning is in Mosiah 4:6-12.  All about faith and it is so amazing.

We had a great week this week.  We were able to get quite a few referrals.  Mainly from other investigators, but there were a few really great ones.

3 are of these sisters who are 12,9, and 8 their names are Nicole, Abby, and Yang.  They have been investigating the church for over a year in another ward. and they just moved to our area! wow they are really great.  We will be rewatching the restoration video later tonight with them as they want to see it in english. they were going to be baptized in Dec.  but they moved but still were going to the other ward.  that is where we come in! they have a baptismal date of April 5 so that they can get adapted to our ward.  They ask really really amazing questions.  They are just so amazing! They had just recently gotten parents permission to be baptized which is why they have been investigating so long.  Both of their parents are abroad working so it is hard on them.  Their dad is coming home for a little bit for Nicole's graduation this month, so that will be exciting.

With Edison, he is doing really well.  His baptismal date is March 23.  He is learning a lot and really loves the gospel.  He told us as we taught WoW that he used to drink coffee because of work and all, but a few weeks ago when he really decide that he wants to be baptized (before we even taught WoW) he would quite.  Now he just drinks milo!  He knows so much because he is originally a former investigator.

Life is good.  Sister Ramos will be transferring. We just heard it through the grapevine.  I will not be training, which will be a nice break for a bit.  I enjoyed the transfers we had together despite some of the initial difficulties.  It is not perfect and we will not be each others bridesmaids or anything but we have grown a ton.

Life is really great.

Some of my blessings I received today:
I slept really well last night.
It rained just a little bit during language study which took away some of the heat.
I have a sister in the Mission!
It is Pday and I am emailing you!!

I am glad to hear that everything is going well with all of you!

You are all the BEST!!

Love always,

Sister Bishop (the first)

Hello! Kamusta na kayo?!

March 3, 2012 4:49 am

Kamusta na kayo?!

I cannot believe how fast the time is going.  It is already March!!  So some cool things that happened.  We had a zone activity at the Manila Zoo today.  We just came from there.  It was way fun.  We saw some way cool things there.  It was fun to be with our zone and let go of some of the pressure that we feel sometimes as missionaries.  We had a fun time with just being with the zone.
For other news for the week, we had 7 of our investigators come to church.  They are the ones with a baptismal date in the end of the month.  Some of them are the kids of some of our less actives, so we are hoping that everything goes well.  I really would never want one of my recent converts to ever go less active.  That would just break my heart.

The work here is going well.  I am feeling well.  Had a headache for a few days last week but nothing major.

Sister Kelsey and Sister Wells both got transferred because a guy in the ward was acting inappropriately for them to stay in the area, so their elders took there area and their area closed.  We will see what happens.

I am doing well. The days sometimes seem long, but the weeks and months go by so fast.

I am really happy for all the changes that are happening back home.  I love that there are these changes in our family.  Everything is going up!

If y'all want something great to read. Gene R. Cook's talk entitled "Faith in Jesus Christ" is great. It was the focus of our Zone Conference.  Faith has been a huge focus for our mission these last few months.  I know that this is the true gospel of Jesus Christ.   It is such an amazing work to be a part of.  I can't believe how much I have learned from being here on the mission. It is a huge blessing to know the truth of the gospel and then to be able to share it with others.

I am glad that all of you are doing well.  I love to hear of the miracles that are happening in all of your lives.

You are the best ever!!!!

9 months.......

Monday February 24,  2014.  Arrived 11:58 pm on Sunday night

Where does the time go????

I am so amazed by how fast the Lord has to make missions.  It was 9 months to the date that I entered the Philippines MTC. That is just so weird!!

Life is going good.  I am doing a lot better.  The companionship is doing better.  We are working to try to find new investigators, some are coming around.  So all in all a good week.  I am now doing much better.  I am really seeing some great blessings in my life right now.  It is way fun to be a missionary.

Edison had to push back his baptism to the 23rd because he missed a sacrament meeting.  But we reviewed with him the Restoration video and then the Plan of Salvation.  His testimony is way good! He starts to teach parts of the lesson with the stuff he knows.  One of the boarders who lives at the house that he lives at (it is owned by a member) is a rm sister from the New York City South Mission.  She is supper sweet.  Her name is "Jo".  It is cool because I know of some of the areas where she served.

I am doing really well.  I have gotten some awesome emails from friends and family this week.  For all of my sisters: I am so happy for all of you!! Vanessa/Sarah you will all be/are amazing mothers! Liz: you are amazing for your decision to serve the Lord!! Rachel: amazing for all the work you do.

The Lord is blessing us in some amazing ways each day!!  Sometimes all we can do is just be grateful for his blessings that He gives to us.  Moroni 10:7 I believe in Miracles!!

I love all of you so much!!
I am just so happy for all of you!!!  Life is good!!!!!  Much love and God Bless!

Mahal na mahal kita lagi,
Sister Bishop
